volunteer info

The section on volunteers is really a skeleton at the moment (it fits under the Support Your Library button). Rachel sent me an email with some good ideas that I am including below.

I was just looking at the new web page....under the volunteer page it might be nice if we could set up an email account for different areas of the library that need volunteers (Children's, Circ, WILL etc.) so people could email for more info...and maybe we should think about putting the application online, too. I can also write up a blurb on requirements for teen volunteers (age limits, job duties, etc.)
I guess, though, first we should check with Bernie since she is technically in charge of volunteer opps.

Sounds good to me. I am adding Bernie, Rachel, and Stephanie to the blog (the list will grow now that I know it works). Does anyone have an electronic version of the application? If so, I can put that on. We need a quick description for the various types of volunteers we can use -- Teen Tech, kids, and adults. If you use volunteers in your department, just post a description of duties and requirements here and I will pull them together into a page.

Do you think we need separate email contacts, or should all questions go to askus so that Jeri can forward them on?

Welcome

In the interests of avoiding schedule conflicts and getting the web page "live" as quickly as possible, I thought we should try this.

The new page is online at http://64.26.67.131/blue

The first topic is the homepage. Questions raised are:

Is there a better label for the "special interests" button? This leads to children, teen, special needs, 50+, etc. Any ideas on a more descriptive, inviting label?

The partners list at the bottom of the left side seems to get lost. Should we move it above the sign up for newsletter box, or change to a button on the regular menu that lists the partners on the drop down menu?

Post ideas here, and we can all see and respond.

We will be working our way through the pages. If you have ideas you want to put in now, go ahead. This will provide an archive so we can make sure ideas don't get lost.

Happy blogging!
